January 2018- TCCU Donates Canned Goods to Tarrant Area Food Bank (TAFB)
Tarrant County’s Credit Union and Fort Worth City Credit Union teamed up to donate canned goods to the Tarrant Area Food Bank, on January 8, 2018.
TCCU partnered with Fort Worth City Credit Union to hold a canned food drive from October 1st-December 29th, 2017. TCCU hosts an annual canned food drive for the Tarrant Area Food Bank (TAFB) and often invites other local credit unions to participate. TAFB is the primary source of donated food for hunger-relief charities and feeding programs in 13 North Texas counties.
January 2018- TCCU Presents $1,594 to The Humane Society of North Texas
Throughout the year money is collected through TCCU’s Charity Is Good savings account program. This program gives members the opportunity to give back “rounded up dollar amounts” from purchases made using their TCCU debit Mastercard. Additional funds were collected through over-the-counter donations and fundraisers. The Humane Society of North Texas (HSNT) is the largest and longest standing non-profit animal rescue and adoption organization in North Texas. In 2018, funds collected will go to The Alliance for Children!
January 2018- TCCU Announces #TCCUCruiseFor2 Sweepstakes Winner
Congratulations to Paige Starks! TCCU’s Cruise for Two Sweepstakes wrapped up at the end of the year, and on January 12th, announced Paige Starks as the winner of the $2,000 Carnival Cruise prize. Starks has been a member of Tarrant County’s Credit Union since the age of 18, and is a newlywed - having just tied the knot a few days prior to being contacted as the winner.
December 2017- TCCU Donates 85 Coats to McDonald Southeast YMCA
TCCU staff, Board members and credit union members collected and donated 85 new coats to the youth of McDonald Southeast YMCA on Monday, December 18, 2017. TCCU held a Coats For Kids Drive during November and early December. This YMCA location serves the greater Fort Worth metropolitan area. Coats that were collected were for youth ages 2 and up.
December 2017- TCCU Annual Holiday Give back to Presbyterian Night Shelter
TCCU staff members collectively devote their last staff meeting of the year to make peanut butter sandwiches for the Presbyterian Night Shelter, the largest provider of services to the county’s homeless; this shelter houses approximately 700 people each night. TCCU’s proud holiday sandwich making tradition began over 11 years ago. This year TCCU was able to provide 500 sandwiches – topped off with a peppermint stick - to those who lean on the Presbyterian Night Shelter for shelter and support.
December 2017- TCCU Spreads Christmas Joy to Sam Rosen & Webb Elementary Students
The staff of Tarrant County’s Credit Union eagerly anticipates spreading joy and happiness to the students of these two schools every year. TCCU staff members, along with others in the Fort Worth Chapter of Credit Unions, give back to the local community by hosting Christmas Parties for two elementary schools in Tarrant County; Sam Rosen Elementary School and Webb Elementary School. These schools educate students of families – that according to the Texas Tribune - are 90.4% economically disadvantaged. The Christmas parties are events that the students and faculty look forward to each year during the holidays.
December 2017 - Angel Tree
Each year TCCU staff members donate funds via payroll deduction to help make Christmas a bit more special for local Angel Tree recipients. Twelve angels were adopted from the Salvation Army Angel Tree this year. Staff members were then challenged to find all the “needs and wants” of each Angel during the busy shopping season. Challenge accepted! The ability to provide toys, clothes, shoes and jackets for these 12 Angels brought joy to all involved. Merry Christmas from TCCU!
November 1 - December 15, 2017 - Coat Drive for Kids of the Southeast Fort Worth YMCA
TCCU is accepting NEW coats for kids at our 4 branch locations until December 15th. Give the gift of warmth to a child. The Child Care Program at the YMCA is in need of the following sizes in new childrens coats:
24 Months, 2T, 3T, 4T, 5T, 6, 6-7, 7-8, 8, 10-12, 14-16, 18, and Adult Large.

September 2017-TCCU's Reality Fair at Uplift Academy
TCCU hosted their first Reality Fair at Uplift Academy in Renaissance Heights on September 20, 2017. The Reality Fair was a hands-on event for the 98 high school juniors and 38 high school seniors of the Academy, with the objective of familiarizing them with real-world financial situations. The Fair was filled with engaging activities and financial role-playing to provide the students, many who live in underserved communities, with real-life scenarios and solutions to life’s setbacks and successes.
September 2017- Hurricane Harvey Relief Bake Sale
After the devastation of Hurricane Harvey, TCCU immediately set out to raise money for those affected by the hurricane. On September 1, 2017, TCCU held a Hurricane Harvey Relief Bake Sale at the Plaza, Lake Worth and Hurst locations; over $1,400 was raised for those affected. Thank You!
July 2017- Intentional Acts Of Kindness
We’ve put together a supply of HOPE BAGS for TCCU staff members to hand out to those less fortunate this summer. Oftentimes these folks only receive attention during the cold winter months, and are forgotten when it gets hot. Compassion is needed year-round.
June 2017- TCCU's Executive Team Speaks With Girls Inc. Of Tarrant County
TCCU’s executive team hosted a financial education class on June 29, 2017 for students of Girls Inc. of Tarrant County. The class was followed by a short Q&A session and lunch with the all-women executive team. This meeting offered financial basics and provided the opportunity to speak and hear from women in leading roles of a financial institution. We had a great time!
June 2017 - TCCU DE'S HELP TAFB ON INTERNATIONAL DAY OF SERVICE
Three TCCU Development Educators (DE's) volunteered at the Tarrant Area Food Bank on 6/14/17 for the International Day of Service. On this date, credit union DE's from around the globe give back to the community they serve by partnering with a non-profit or cooperative.These TCCU staff members worked in the Quality Control area at the TAFB, inspecting and sorting goods that will benefit food banks and, ultimately, families - in thirteen North Texas counties.
June 2017 - TCCU Collects Shoes for Soles for Change
Credit Unions around the region are joining with Cornerstone Credit Union League and Cornerstone Credit Union Foundation to collect new and gently used shoes for Soles for Change, A Credit Unions Care initiative. All shoes collected will go to developing nations around the world in a unique endeavor designed to lift individuals, families and communities out of extreme poverty through micro-enterprise. If you'd like to donate shoes, please drop them off at any TCCU branch location.
March 2017- TCCU Assists with Renaissance Heights United
TCCU staff volunteers have been busy working on projects directly related to education at Renaissance Heights. TCCU staff volunteered at the Back to School Rally at Uplift Mighty Preparatory, the charter school at Renaissance. Staffers helped with the distribution of school supplies, directed traffic, and assisted parents and children during the event. TCCU staff donated school supplies for the children, and providing financial education to the students at All Church Home Child & Family Services.
2017 efforts will include assisting with the planning of the community Zen Garden at All Church Home & Family Services, and this fall, the credit union will provide a Reality Fair for the high school students and will also provide financial education material to the new Cook Children’s Neighborhood Clinic located in Renaissance Heights.
February 2017- TCCU Awards 2017 Kick$tart Winner
Tarrant County’s Credit Union awarded $500 to Rhiannon Maddock, its second Kick$tart Scholarship Fund winner, on Wednesday, February 8, 2017. Rhiannon Maddock, 2017 Kick$tart Scholarship recipient, attends the Texas Academy of Biomedical Science High School. Maddock is heavily involved in school and in community activities. She is a member of her school’s National Honor Society and sings with the Texas Girls’ Choir. Maddock plans on pursuing higher education in Forensic or Medical Science studies.
February 2017- The Big Give Blood Drive
TCCU staff participated in The Big Give blood drive put on by Carter BloodCare. The Big Give was held on February 9, 2017; at all branch locations staff were able to access the trucks or locations to donate blood and help save lives.
January 2017- Check Presentation ~ Humane Society of North Texas
TCCU presented a check for $1,255 to the Humane Society of North Texas on January 9, 2017. The money was collected through TCCU's Charity Is Good Program. Charity Is Good allows members to round up debit card purchases with the difference going to the charity. The Humane Society of North Texas has been chosen as the recipient for 2017 donations.
January 2017- Check Presentation ~ Center for Transforming Lives
TCCU presented a $500 check to the Center for Transforming Lives on January 10, 2017. The money was raised by selling tickets for a staff-decorated Christmas Wreath and two 6-foot toy-filled stockings. TCCU looks forward to continuing their partnership with the Center for Transforming Lives, a center that helps women and children by providing stability through housing
December 2016- TCCU's Holiday Give Back
TCCU along with credit unions within the Fort Worth Chapter of Credit Unions collected new socks and gently used and new blankets for the Presbyterian Night Shelter. The credit unions collected items during the month of December and presented the items to the night shelter on December 28th, 2016. TCCU also collaborated with Fort Worth City Credit Union during the holidays and made peanut butter sandwiches for the Presbyterian Night Shelter. This was the first year the Fort Worth City Credit Union joined in on the TCCU holiday tradition.

August 2016- Transportation Initiative
For August, TCCU's month of service initiative was focused on transportation. During August, TCCU collected new and used bicycles from members and employees. TCCU was able to collect and donate 16 bicycles to Querencia Community Bike Shop. The refurbished bikes will be sold to the community at a discounted rate. Bikes are also donated to local children charities during the holiday season.
May 2016 - County Employee Appreciation Day
For the 21st year, TCCU sponsored County Employee Appreciation Day, and what a beautiful day it was! It was an honor to participate in the tribute to all of the long-term County employees that were recognized during the program. It was also an honor to pay tribute to Ann Farmer, as she hosted her final CEAD. We wish her joy and happiness upon her upcoming retirement. Click here for a few photos taken that day.
April 2016 - Check Presentation ~ Center for Transforming Lives
On April 25, 2016, Melissa Burleson, TCCU's Business Development Coordinator, presented a check to Trish Rodriguez, Chief Development Officer with the Center for Transforming Lives, in the amount of $700. The total represents basket ticket sales collected during our Member Appreciation Day Event held in March of this year.

During the month of March, TCCU partnered with other local credit unions with a focus on serving the community in the area of Housing.
Donations of toiletries and blankets were collected during the month and were delivered to the Presbyterian Night Shelter of Fort Worth.

TCCU was proud to present a check in the amount of $3,250 to Peggy Brown, Community Outreach Coordinator with HSNT, on January 12, 2016. The check represents funds collected with the Charity is Good program, as well as donations and fund-raising events held during 2015.
